Youth Worker, King’s Adolescent Outreach Service. c. £26,000 – £30,000 pa
We are looking for an exceptional youth worker with proven ability to work with vulnerable young people, and the capacity to form effective working relationships with a wide range of partners and agencies to be part of the youth work team at Redthread.
On any day, across King’s College Hospital sites, at least 20 adult beds are occupied by young people aged 16 to 24. These young people have specific medical, emotional, legal and social needs which we know from user feedback are not being met.
This role will work within the King’s Adolescent Outreach Service (KAOS) to improve the services provided and help support the medical and surgical teams on adult wards to care for young people in an age appropriate way.
During the Covid-19 outbreak, our teams have been working from home, still taking referrals from the hospitals and offering phone support to young people. We are currently planning to go back to working in King’s and are in discussion with our clinicians about how to make this happen. The pattern of work for this role may require the successful candidate to work from home for some days of the week over the next few months, depending on how the pandemic develops.
