25toThrive

Can you help us empower young people to thrive by taking on our 25toThrive challenge this April? Whether you spread your challenge over the month, or complete it in a weekend, the money you raise will help to change young people's lives!

About the event

For 25 years, Redthread has been on a mission to break cycles of serious youth violence and ensure every young person has the opportunity to thrive, whatever their circumstance. Can you help us continue our vital work?

To celebrate our 25th birthday, we are asking our supporters and friends to take on one of our 25toThrive challenges – your way, at your pace.

When: 1st – 25th April 2021
Where: Anywhere!

By taking part in 25toThrive, you can be part of positive change for young people. We are asking you to raise £150 through JustGiving to support young people.

£150 will provide crisis intervention support for a young person in hospital

250,000 steps

Take on 250,000 steps by the 25th April. That is on average 10,000 a day! Whether you want to spread this evenly across the month or take on long walks at the weekend, you decide how to complete this.

Don’t worry, you wont need a fancy watch to track your progress. Smartphones can do this for you. If this isn’t an option, 250,000 steps roughly equals 190km!

25 miles

Complete 25 miles (that’s 40km) by the 25th April in any way you decide.

There are plenty of free apps available to help you track your progress. At Redthread, we are keen users of Strava. Join our club on Strava to see what #TeamRedthread are up to!

25 days of moving

Commit to 25 days of movement this April as you raise vital funds to support young people. This challenge is yours to design! Here are some ideas…

  • Yoga
  • Running
  • Walking
  • Press-ups
  • Cycling

FAQs

Why is 25 years important?

25 years is an important milestone for us here at Redthread. Not only are we celebrating our 25th year, we also support young people up to the age of 25. Many services for young people are capped to 18 years old, leaving those aged 19-25 easy to fall through the adolescence gap and not get the specialised support they need. As we celebrate our 25th year, we have a calendar of exciting events to mark this special occasion. We’re kicking this off with 25toThrive – will you join us?

How much do I need to raise?

We are asking you to please raise at least £150 to support our work with young people. This could provide crisis intervention support for a young person in hospital affected by violence or exploitation.

Does it cost to take part?

It is completely free to enter, but we do have an option to pay £15 (inc. p&p) for a Redthread running vest!

How will I fundraise?

Through the JustGiving platform. Donating through JustGiving is totally secure and setting up a page is quick and easy. We will answer any questions you have and provide you with information about how to set your page up.

How do I ask people to donate?

We will support you with your fundraising and share some tips for getting started, including how to share your JustGiving page and images you can post on social media.

I can’t take part… can I still support Redthread?

Absolutely! You can donate directly to our JustGiving page here.  If you’d like to find out more about other events we have charity places in, email us at fundraising@redthread.org.uk to speak to the team.

I have another question!

Please get in touch with us at fundraising@redthread.org.uk and we’ll be happy to help.

I had planned to take part in Hackney Half last year which was postponed due to the pandemic so decided to take on Race with Redthread. It was a great day and I felt proud to rep Redthread as I ran through central London!
